Root Beer Tea
We’ve been rooting for a healthy alternative to root beer and now we finally have one! A fun play on an American classic, our root beer tea combines the base of traditional root beer (sarsaparilla) with a few other all-natural ingredients. The sarsaparilla is enhanced with burdock root and a hint of vanilla, cinnamon and cloves for a signature flavor. One sip of this root beer tea brings back memories of old-fashioned soda shops. Enjoy it as a hot tea, iced tea, or carbonated tea soda! These are huge sachets, capable of brewing 1 gallon of tea each! For a more intense flavor brew with 1/2 a gallon of water.
Caffeine Level: None
For hot tea, brew 1 full teaspoon of root beer tea per 6-8 ounces of water. Place tea in a filter or strainer and let it steep in hot water for 3-4 minutes.
For iced tea, brew 2 full teaspoons of root beer tea per 6-8 ounces of water. Place tea in a filter or strainer and let it steep in hot water for 3-4 minutes. Remove the loose leaf tea and let it sit awhile to cool. Refrigerate until cold, add ice, and serve!
To make soda, first prepare a simple syrup by simmering 1 cup of sugar in 1 cup of water until sugar is melted, stirring constantly. Brew tea in simple syrup (one .5 oz sachet per quarter gallon simple syrup) for 90-120 minutes, agitating occasionally. Strain out tea. Chill. Add sparkling water to taste or 1 oz per 6-8 oz soda water.
