Dominican Red Beans
Dominican red beans are a staple in Dominican and Caribbean recipes, and can become a staple in your kitchen, too! These hearty beans have a thin skin that lets them take on the flavor of the spices and broth used in your cooking. Rich in fiber, protein and iron, they make a healthy side dish. Try Dominican red beans with rice for a satisfying and wholesome meal.
How to Cook Dominican Red Beans
Rinse the beans, and soak in water overnight. Drain the beans and transfer them to a large cooking pot. Cover them with a couple inches of water and bring to a boil. Reduce to medium heat and let simmer for about 1-1.5 hours, or until the beans are tender.
