Chives

Chives are a prized herb in French cuisine and add a pungent, aromatic, oniony flavor to vegetable soups and baked potato. Our chopped, dried chives offer a more mellow flavor than fresh chives do. Stock your pantry and spice cabinet with this essential herb!
Chives and scallions: What’s the difference?
Chives are a completely different genus of plant than the green onion or scallion. Green onions and scallions are usually the same plant, though they are labeled alternately in the grocery store. Chives, by contrast, are more of an herb than a vegetable and have a stronger, more pungent flavor compared to scallions and green onions. While scallions and onions are often prized for their texture, chives don’t offer much in the way of texture and crispiness, and work more as a flavoring agent.
