Plump carob-covered raisins, made with a rich carob coating, are perfect for those who can’t have chocolate, but crave a little something sweet. Our carob coating is so silky sweet, you won’t be missing chocolate! Carob-covered raisins are definitely worth adding to a healthy, low-fat trail mix.
What is Carob?
Much like chocolate, carob comes from the thick pods of a tropical tree which contain the dense pulp that is turned into carob itself. The pulp is dried and ground to a powder that very much resembles cocoa powder. In taste and texture, however, cocoa and carob powder are very different! Carob is naturally sweet and somewhat softer in texture than its cocoa cousin.
Carob and carob chocolate happen to be free of caffeine, making carob a great choice for those who have caffeine sensitivity. Carob is a calcium superstar, containing triple the calcium of regular chocolate. In most baking recipes, carob and chocolate can be substituted one for one.

I was advised to avoid caffeine several years ago, and discovered carob as an alternative. Carob is different from chocolate both in terms of taste and nutrition, and I have found it to a great option. Nuts.com's carob-covered raisins are a tasty snack that I can enjoy without worrying about caffeine. The only downside to this product is the significant fat content, so you'll want to review the numbers and be careful not to "overdo" this almost addictive caffeine-free snack!
