Wheat germ is at the center of a grain of wheat and is responsible for the growth and development of the new plant sprout. Although only a small part of the wheat seed, the germ is highly concentrated with nutrients, including niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin E, folate, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, iron and zinc. Wheat germ also contains protein, fiber and some fat.
