Halawi dates have a thick, soft golden flesh and have a rich, caramel-like sweetness that makes them one of the most beloved varieties of dates. In fact, “halawi” means “sweet” in Arabic. They are similar to the deglet noor variety in shape and color, but have their own unique taste.

Fresh, these were the date of choice for many in the Middle East when I was stationed there decades ago, but they are smaller and chewier, and the seed seems too large for its sweet jacket. These are drier in texture than Deglet Noors or Medjouls, but not as soft and carmel-like as Honey Dates. I think i will not buy these again but theres nothing wrong with them, i just like my dates softer.

I love Halawi Dates and your web site is the one I can always find them on. They are sweet but not too sweet and I like the texure of them too. I eat some for breakfast every day.
