Dandelion root powder is known as a blood purifier that helps eliminate harmful toxins from the body. It improves kidney and liver function, while promoting a healthy digestive system. Just a teaspoon of dandelion powder in teas, smoothies, and other beverages delivers a powerful dose of vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber.

How to Enjoy Dandelion Root Powder

Mix 1 tablespoon of dandelion root powder in drinks or food 2-3 times a day. For a dandelion root tea, dissolve the powder in hot water and sweeten with a burst of lemon and a touch of honey or agave. It can also be blended into smoothies, mixed with juices, or sprinkled over cereal and oatmeal.

Health Benefits of Dandelion Root Powder

1) Supports the Liver and Kidneys

Dandelion root powder is an effective blood purifier which helps the body filter out toxins and promotes the function of the liver and kidneys. The University of Maryland Medical Center states that dandelion root can help the body remove excess fluid, reduce high blood pressure, and improve liver problems.

2) Heart Health

Dandelion root powder may have protective effects on the cardiovascular system. A 2009 study published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences found that dandelion root extract reduced the risk factors for atherosclerosis, a disease characterized by the build-up of plaque in the arteries. The antioxidant properties of dandelion root were shown to reduce oxidative stress and lower LDL “bad” cholesterol levels in rabbits.

3) Digestive Health

The next time you have an upset stomach, dandelion root powder may be able to help. Natural compounds in the root stimulate the production of bile by the liver, which helps break down fats and improve digestion. Dandelion root also promotes regular bowel movements.

You should not take dandelion if you have gallstones or gallbladder problems.

Origins of Dandelion Root Powder

Our dandelion root powder is ground from the dried root of the dandelion flowering plant. The name dandelion comes from the French word dent-de-lion meaning “lion’s tooth,” which the flower’s jagged petals resemble. The dandelion’s scientific name, Taraxacum officinale, is derived from Latin and signifies the plant’s healing properties. Dandelion root has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years to treat a variety of ailments, particularly disorders related to the liver and digestive system.

This is a safer way to get the benefits. Grazing in my lawn isn’t so safe because I don’t know who sprays poisons on theirs, and the rain spreads the pesticides around.
