We like to think of our gorp (or GORP) as “gorp plus” because we added in delicious goodies like sunflower seeds, M&Ms and dried cranberries to make it just a little sweeter and energy-rich. Prep for the hike (literal and figurative!) with this satisfying and fortifying forefather of all trail mix.
What is GORP?
GORP is an acronym that stands for “good old raisins and peanuts” which was, according to some, the very first trail mix. Chocolate is traditionally included in most gorp. I put some of this trail mix in a snack bag to bring to work with me and when I wanted a little snack this weekend I found that it was almost gone. Haven’t had it in the house a week but my husband has devoured it. It’s really good.
