Greatest Ginger

Being diabetic, I have to soak the sugar off, overall the ginger is very good! The stringy ones you just eat sideways. I always take little bites anyway.

THE BEST of THE BEST in "Crystallized Ginger" *and I've tried them all! For cooking or for "snacking", just right! Great in a cup of tea, or, as my Dr. once told me, "brew some ginger slices in hot water for a lovely tea that will settle an upset tummy or ease a cold"! She was RIGHT on both counts! BTW.."dip these ginger slices in some good quality dark chocolate for a treat and/or "gift" they won't forget! I also love adding dices of it to my homemade Gingerbread and Molasses Cookies!!

My breakfasts are usually wheat berries with bits of dried fruit in them. This crystallized ginger is great for that. They're very sweet on their own, but have a nice ginger bite, and in grains like I use them, the sweetness dilutes out.

This is great stuff. And, like the dried mango, not stringy or over-dried. This is great for making relaxing tea and for before bedtime.

I love ginger. This is a nice light treat after dinner.

I love eating Ginger before a meal, as it really helps with digestion. The crystallized ginger makes it easier to eat it.

I use them in pumpkin scones along with the pumpkin spice. Very good.

Add some of these to a soft ginger cookie recipe and get twice the flavor plus a nice chewy cookie.

Dont be fooled, these have a kick of spice. They're not sugary sweet by any means.

This still burns my tongue a bit but actually that's one of the things that, believe it or not, I find an asset - I know I'm eating real ginger. There's just enough sugar to overcome the natural bitterness of ginger. The first time I had crystallized ginger I was about 8 years old (I'm now 80) and my aunt used to take me to downtown Chicago every Saturday. One of the stores that was always on the list to visit was the original Stop and Shop, and they sold this in the candy department. So, it's not only delicious, it's nostalgic.

We bought 40 lbs. of crystalized ginger, and divided them into smaller vacuum sealed bags and jars for long term storage. We love the very fresh and tasty flavor, and it helps my husband's digestion a lot.
