I know, from experience, how difficult it is to blanch/strip the skins off hazel nuts; so I'll treat these naked babies like gold. I'm eager to recreate a salad I ate in Vienna, with a round of melted chèvre, on a bed of greens, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with roasted hazelnuts.

I assume I can blanch them and remove the "husks," unless you think there is some food value there. Thanks for the almonds, too. If I want to toast some of the filberts, do I do it on the stove top? I've been getting raw macadamia nuts, filberts, Brazil nuts and almonds and making a snack mix for work for years now. Most days I don't have time to have an actual lunch so I just grab a handful of my mix and it takes care of the growling beast in my belly:) And it's super yummy too.

So here's the deal. I ordered the wrong thing. I hate roasted salted nuts but I cleverly ordered some. But my family enjoyed them. And in the past when I have ordered raw filberts I've loved them. So, I rate them a 5 because Nuts.com is excellent. But I wish I had ordered the right thing.
