Organic blue agave syrup is a natural, raw sweetener that can substitute for sugar and honey. It is derived from the carbohydrates present in the blue agave plant through a totally natural process, with no chemicals involved. Organic agave syrup is the preferred sweetener of many calorie-watchers and diabetics, and can be used to sweeten any type of beverage or food.
Organic agave syrup is derived from Agave tequilana, the blue agave plant. As its scientific name suggests, the blue agave is also the main ingredient of tequila. Agave nectar has been used to sweeten foods and drinks since the time of the Aztecs, who believed that the plant had been created by the gods to give comfort and blessing. Today, the blue agave is grown across Mexico and the surrounding area.
Our organic agave syrup is produced by extracting the sap from the agave plant’s core, heating it, and concentrating it. As the syrup is heated at relatively low temperatures, most people consider it a raw food. It is sometimes referred to as agave nectar or aguamiel (“honey water” in Spanish).
Noticeably sweeter than regular sugar, organic agave syrup is often used by calorie-conscious customers, who are able to substitute less agave syrup than the original quantity of sugar in a recipe, consuming fewer calories. Many diabetics prefer agave syrup, as it consists mostly of fructose and has a low glycemic index, and some vegans like to use it instead of honey.
Organic blue agave syrup is similar to honey in taste, although it is less viscous and sometimes has mild hints of caramel. Unlike many sweeteners, it has no aftertaste. Organic agave syrup can be used on top of pancakes, French toast, and waffles, to make ice cream, to sweeten drinks, in baked goods, and as a substitute for sugar and honey.
When substituting for sugar in recipes, use about 3/4 cup of agave syrup for every cup of sugar, and decrease the quantity of all other liquids.

Had never tried it before; wanted to use it instead of honey in my recipes. Tastes great and it's good for my husband's hypoglycemia. More taste, less bonks.
